The Chicago AGD Presented: Overview of Dental Sleep Medicine
On Friday, September 15th, 2023, in conjunction with the Illinois State Dental Society at Maggiano’s restaurant in Naperville, IL, the Chicago component of the Academy of General Dentistry hosted the executive team of Midwest Dental Sleep centers –– Dr. Kevin Wallace, Kevin Adley-RPSGT, and Scott Craig. Dr. Wallace provided an overview of screening/diagnosis of sleep disorders, treatments and management of them, and methods of collaboration with medical specialists to care for patients with sleep disorders. Kevin Adley has over 20 years of sleep medicine experience working in the industry. He discussed the importance of sleep health in relation to overall systemic health. In addition, he provided an overview of the diagnosis and treatments of the two most common sleep disorders–obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia, explained the modes of sleep testing, and presented on combination therapy case study using both oral appliance and CPAP. Scott Craig provided insights on the current market and trends of sleep medicine both from the medical and dental perspectives. The seminar concluded with Q&A with the speakers.
