The Chicago AGD Presented: Demystifying Hard and Soft Tissue Grafting

On Friday, May 1st, 2026, at Gibson’s Bar & Steakhouse in Oak Brook, the Chicago
component of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry hosted a seminar featuring Dr. Saurabh
Kamat. An award-winning oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a distinguished in implantology
and guided bone regeneration. Dr. Kamat graduated from Goa Dental College and Hospital in
India with a University Gold Metal. He then furthered his education and graduated with his
Masters from the prestigious MGPGI (government of Pondicherry Institute) in India. He was
awarded highest marks on the exam conducted by the Pondicherry university. He is also a fellow
of the Indian and International board of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and is founder of
Southern Edge Education.


Saurabh Kamat’s course on hard and soft tissue grafting offered a comprehensive
exploration of bone augmentation and socket preservation techniques. Attendees gained valuable
insight into the development of ideal implant sites to facilitate predictable and optimal implant
placement. Dr. Kamat presented advanced concepts including ridge splitting, block grafting, and
inferior alveolar nerve transposition. He also provided a detailed discussion comparing the
indications, advantages, and limitations of noninvasive crestal sinus lift procedures versus lateral
window sinus augmentation techniques.

presented by Dr. Stephanie Tran. Dr. Tran completed her endodontic specialty residency at the
University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She is an experienced clinician who is trained in
contemporary advanced endodontic techniques, microscopic surgical and nonsurgical endodontic
treatment and management of traumatic injuries in both adults and children. She lectures
nationally and internationally and strives to share her enthusiasm for endodontics with other
passionate clinicians.
