The Illinois Academy of General Dentistry Officers and Board members had a great time at the 151st Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting February 25-27, 2016. Dr. George Zehak, President of the Chicago Dental Society and Past President of the IL AGD presided over this year’s “I-Meeting.” The Chicago Dental Society, an international leader in scientific meetings provided a unique opportunity to increase our awareness of the latest advances in the wonderful world of dentistry in an atmosphere that blended high tech, entertainment and camaraderie. The McCormick Place West was packed with dentists, staff, lab technicians and exhibitors from countries across the globe. This year’s attendance was 29, 936 including 6,683 dentists representing 77 countries. The Exhibit Hall featured over 670 companies and 8,230 exhibitors. The Special Events were spectacular this year. Thursday night the Michael Jackson impersonator drew a crowd of over 1000 people and Friday night’s concert “Staying Alive A Tribute to the BeeGee” brought back many memories from the 1970’s. The President’s Dinner Dance featuring the Don Cagen Orchestra was exceptional and so much fun!
This year’s scientific session featured many IL AGD speakers: Dr. Larry Williams, Dr. Sue Bishop, Dr. Brenden Moon, and Dr. Reuel Owen and from WI AGD, Dr. John Olsen. This year several courses were given in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese and translated into English. Many courses were sold out including a Sleep Apnea course given in Italian and over 50% of the courses were free. We can’t wait for next year’s 152nd Chicago Dental Society Midwinter meeting at McCormick Center West February 23-25, 2017. Next year’s theme is Leadership: The Cornerstone of Success. Plan to join us for the education, the networking, camaraderie and fun!
