The Illinois AGD hosted a welcome breakfast for the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry as part of their orientation week on Wednesday, August 28th. This breakfast served as an introduction to organized dentistry and specifically the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Cheryl Mora, Regional Director of the ILAGD welcomed the new class during the breakfast and described the crucial role that the AGD plays in the general dentistry profession. Dr. Marsha Babka, Dr. William Lawley, Dr. Abbas Merchant, Dr. Rosemary Villa, Dr. Sy Wachtenheim and Dr. George Zehak, and AGD Membership Coordinator, Aleida Lane and ILAGD student representatives, Kailyn Schultz (D-4), Stephanie Schreiber (D-3), and Patrick Sofer (D-2) attended the breakfast to meet and greet the new dental students. Many student member benefits were highlighted including the AGD award winning publications, AGD Impact and General Dentistry, and the ability to earn 50 hours of continuing education towards their fellowship when they graduate. The AGD is committed to helping students during their entire academic career as well as help to smooth their transition into their dental careers upon graduation.
