The Illinois AGD UIC COD Student Chapter & the Chicago Dental Society UIC COD Academic Chapter hosted their first joint Lunch & Learn at the University Of Illinois College Of Dental Medicine on September 4, 2015. Dr. George Zehak, President Elect of the CDS and Past President of the IL AGD spoke to the students about Clinical Photography. Dr. Zehak and Dr. Cheryl Mora also spoke to the students about the IL AGD student membership benefits and the importance of organized dentistry to the profession. Dr. Zehak outlined the “5 reasons why you must join organized dentistry.” Dr. Mora spoke about the importance of all dentists being a member of the ADA and also joining their “specialty” organization. For general dentists- the Academy of General Dentistry is the organization that represents the needs of the general dentist and is committed to providing high quality continuing education that exemplifies our commitment to life-long learning. All the students will receive continuing education credit for today’s program that will be applied towards the Fellowship Award after they graduate. The IL AGD would like to thank Dr. Paula Jones, Past President of the AGD for attending the program along with Dr. Sy Wachtenheim, Past President of the IL AGD. IL AGD student representatives Natasha Kanchwala, D-4, Katrina Lo, A-2 and Dan Pagel, D-2 attended the lunch and learn. The IL AGD would also like to thank CDS Academic Chapter representatives Shouvik Ponnusamy D-4, Anthony Lotesto D4, Maggie Gashkoff D-3, Tyler Ramir D-2 for all of their help in organizing the Lunch and Learn. The IL AGD looks forward to working with the CDS on future student events.
