The ILAGD presented its first closed circuit TV demonstration of live surgical extractions and socket grafting on December 2. Thirty-five dentists attended this full day course given by Dr. Paul Petrungaro and Dr. James Chapko. The long term success of implants depends on the quality and quantity of bone as well as the soft tissue characteristics. The doctors learned the clinical skills necessary to create ideal sites for implant placement. The preservation of bone during tooth removal, the augmentation of deficient ridges, utilization of regenerative membranes, and bone augmentation materials, were discussed in the lecture portion of the course at the Hilton Garden Inn in Schaumburg and then were demonstrated in the live surgery that took place at ImplantWide in Schaumburg. Many thanks to the sponsors of the program: ImplantWide, Colgate, Komet USA, Medco Dental Instruments and Nobel Biocare.
