A Comprehensive Course in Aesthetic Dentistry from Prep to Seat

Speaker:

Thomas Dudney, DMD is a 1977 graduate of the University of Alabama at the Birmingham School of Dentistry. He has previously served as the Clinical Director for the Aesthetic Advantage hands-on programs taught by Dr. Larry Rosenthal at New York University and the Eastman Dental Clinic in London.

Presently he is the clinical director of the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum (PAC) hands-on programs. In addition to teaching hands-on programs, he has presented workshops and lectures at dental meetings and has authored several articles on aesthetic and restorative dentistry.

He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Alabama Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is also a fellow of the American Society for Dental Aesthetics and a Diplomate of the American Board of Aesthetic Dentistry as well as a member of Catapult Education’s Speakers Bureau.

Course Description:

Successful results in aesthetic dentistry can be achieved by following specific principles and guidelines. In the morning lecture of this all day course minimally invasive tooth preparation, provisional fabrication, and adhesive resin cementation of non-retentive restorations will be discussed with clinical examples of each. In addition smile design principles and how they combine art and science will also be discussed.
In the afternoon hands-on exercise attendees will prep model for veneers, make a putty matrix for provisionals, fabricate provisionals with their putty matrix, and adhesively bond a veneer.

Course Objectives:

Following this presentation, dentists will:

How to prepare anterior teeth for porcelain veneers with a minimally invasive approach
• How to utilize mock-ups, prep guides, and depth cutting burs to help insure successful results
• A step by step procedure on how to fabricate beautiful provisional restorations
• How to use the provisionals to communicate with the patient and the lab
• Understanding smile design principles and how they contribute to the attractiveness or unattractiveness of a smile
• The necessary steps for treating the tooth and the restoration when adhesively bonding
• How to successfully cement or adhesively bond zirconia

Who Should Attend?

These hands-on programs were created for AGD Fellows aspiring to be AGD Masters, but we’ve discovered that they may benefit all dentists, from new graduates to seasoned practitioners.

CE Credit:

16 hours of participation credit for those who attend the 2 days of lecture and hands-on. 34 total hours of participation credit to those who attend the 2 days of lecture and hands-on, complete the assigned protocol in their office, and return to document the protocol assignment.

The total tuition for Premasters for this course, which includes the reporting session is $1075. MAGD’s receive a $100.00 discount and pay $975. Non-AGD member is $1175. **Dr. Gibbs can arrange a Shuttle for the doctors from the Hotel to GC America at 7:15 am Friday and 7:30 am Saturday. The Illinois Academy of General Dentistry and the Wisconsin Academy of General Dentistry are pleased to present this program leading to Mastership certification in the Academy. To complete the Mastership Program, candidates must enroll for 600 hours of continuing education, 400 of which must be of participatory nature.
