This two-day course will include both didactic and hands-on programs. This program will include a review of pediatric dentistry restorative techniques including anterior esthetic restorations, advanced appliance therapy for pediatric dental patients, infant oral health care, medical disorders common to pediatric and special needs patients, restorative dentistry options for special needs patients and pediatric patients and behavior management techniques for pediatric and special needs patients. The hands-on will include Stainless steel crowns, esthetic crown preparations, pulpotomies, oral pathology identification, frenectomy technique, Class I and Class 2 materials and preparations for permanent and primary teeth restorations and case presentations.
Dr. Dan Stoeckel is Chair of the Pediatric Residency Program at St. Louis University Hospital. He completed a residency in Oral Pathology at the University of Iowa in 2006 and a residency in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Louisville in 2009. He operated the St. Louis University Oral Pathology Laboratory from 2001 to 2007 and he currently provides care to special needs children at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He is past faculty in the SIU/SDM Pediatric Department and Special Needs Clinic.
Dr. Ken Rawson is a part-time faculty member at SIU School of Dental Medicine. He is a SIU/SDM graduate (class of 2005) and completed a residency in Pediatric
Dentistry at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Rawson is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and provides care for children through Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville, IL and in a pediatric dental practice. He is the current President of the Illinois State Dental Society and a Fellow of the American College Dentists and the
International College of Dentists.

low speed; football diamond for hi-speed; 169L and 330 carbide burr #6 for hi-speed, 6 round burr for latch
attachment low-speed

8 hours of Pediatric lecture credit for those who attend the 11/17/23 lecture only; 16 hours of Pediatric/Special care dentistry participation credit for those who attend 11/17/23 lecture and 11/18/23 hands-on. (36 hours for those who complete an in-office protocol assignment and report).
