Day one of the Seminar will provide a review of diagnosis and treatment of TMD and techniques on how to screen for non-dental vs
dental related tooth pain and the basics of treatment. Day two hands -on of the seminar will cover examination and diagnosis of
oralfacial pain of dental and nondental origins. Scientific principals behind how Trigger Point, Nerve Block and Botox are used to treat
TMD and non-dental tooth pain. Videos of techniques will be shown with hands-on practice.

Dr. Cohen is founder of Southwest Orofacial Group, a multidisciplinary orofacial pain management clinic, where he was Medical Director for over 30 years. Dr. Cohen has lectured nationally and internationally including many lectures to the American Headache Society and American Academy of Orofacial Pain. Dr. Cohen is a section editor for the Journal “Cranio” and is a frequent reviewer for several Journals including: The Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA), American Headache Society, and many others. Dr. Cohen is a diplomate and past president of the American Board of Orofacial Pain and a diplomate of the Academy of Integrative Pain Management. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American Dental Association, American Pain Society, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, where he is Past President. He is also a Fellow of the American Headache Society, He is an Assistant Professor at the Arizona School for Dentistry and Oral Health, where he is director of the Orofacial Pain Program and is currently Adjunct faculty at the Orofacial Pain Center at UCLA. Dr. Cohen is a graduate of the University of Tennessee Dental School, received advanced training in Orofacial Pain at UCLA, and has been in private practice in Phoenix since 1971. He has authored many articles and recently wrote several chapters for the “Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of TMD and OFP’ published by Quintessence and a recent paper in Triple O and the Journal of OFP and Headache on Guidelines for Imaging the TMJ. As week as a paper published in the Journal ‘Cranio” On the Use OD CBCT Airway Measurements in Screening for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
At the completion of this seminar, participants will:
1. Understand how to screen patients for TMD and Non Dental Tooth Pain.
2. Understand the treatments for TMD
3. Understand diagnosis and treatment of Non Dental Tooth Pain
4. Understand how Botox can be used to treat TMD
5. Develop competency in trigger point injections and nerve blocks to diagnose and treat TMD and Non Dental Tooth Pain
6. Differentiate between dental and non- dental related oralfacial pain

8 hours of Pain Management lecture credit for those who attend the 3/8/24 lecture only;
16 hours of Pain Management participation credit for those who attend 3/8/24 lecture
and 3/9/24 hands-on. (36 hours for those who complete an in-office protocol assignment
