Friday, November 12th will be a Hybrid lecture. You may attend the live lecture at SIU School of Dental Medicine OR you may attend the course via Zoom.
Implant Dentistry has evolved significantly over the last few years. Day 1 of this course will cover topics that will help the participant increase the case acceptance of implant Dentistry in their practices and at the same time learn how to avoid common complications. Day 2 will be a hands-on opportunity for participants to plan treatment based on cases he/she has individually provided.
Dr. Robert Blackwell received his dental degree from the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Education Association and the Academy of Osseointegration. He is a Fellow of both the Academy of General Dentistry and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Blackwell is a Clinical Professor and the Chair of the Department of Graduate Education at the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He has lectured both nationally and internationally for over 30 years. Dr. Blackwell maintains a private restorative practice with an emphasis on implant restoration.
Understand the latest techniques and materials about implant-supported partial and complete dentures and restorative occlusion. Understand the indications for use of an implant-supported partial or complete denture. Become knowledgeable about the causes of implant problems and restorative failures and the solutions to correct the problems. Understand the principles of implant-supported complete and partial dentures and some of the basic principles of treatment planning both for the partially endentulous and totally endentulous patient.
Become knowledgeable about how to provide for anterior esthetics for the implant patient. Understand how to manage digital vs. traditional workflow.
Supplies: For the hands-on session on 11/13/21 please bring magnification eyewear. Bring cases for Saturday Tx planning exercise-bring photos, models, radiographs, patient history and odontogram.

8 hours of Implant lecture credit for those who attend the 11/12/21 lecture only; 16 hours of Implant participation credit for those who attend 11/12/21 lecture and 11/13/21 hands-on. (36 hours for those who complete an in-office protocol assignment and report).
