SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE
&
THE CENTRAL ILLINOIS ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY
Presents:
Zoom Virtual Meeting/Webinar
Day 1 Recently dental implants have become a common alternative to endodontic re -treatment. Disparity and confusion arise when looking at implant and endodontic -treatment literature as the criteria for success. There are inconsistent treatment outcomes cited in literature and dilemmas arise as to how to proceed with a failing root canal. It is essential to understand these factors in relation to dental implants so that the best treatment options can be discussed with the patient. Today’s presentation will help direct dentists toward root canal treatment or dental implants. You will learn about diagnostic factors, treatment planning the restorable and non-restorable dentition, considerations before treatment, critical surgical and restorative factors, as well as surgical and prosthetic procedure workflow. It will provide a workflow chart, differentiating all types of patients and placing them into their respective restorative categories.
Day 2 Keep It or Lose It! For participation Credit: You will be provided in -depth case studies, each with unique presentations in favor of an implant or RCT or both. At the end of the presentations, participants will cast their vote and rationale for which course of treatment is chosen.
Dr. Nisha Mehta holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from Purdue University and a Doctoral Degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Mehta completed extensive post -doctoral training through a General Practice Residency in Peoria, Illinois and expanded her surgical treatment knowledge by completing a year-long Implant Fellowship at the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. She also obtained a Master of Science degree and a Certificate in Endodontics from Saint Louis University in Missouri. Her educational background and work experience enable her to provide patients a unique and informed perspective regarding endodontic prognosis, microsurgical endodontics, and implant treatment planning. Dr. Mehta maintains active memberships in the American Association of Endodontics, Academy of General Dentistry, and Illinois State Dental Society.
Dr. Irbad Chowdhury received his dental degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine where he continued and completed his residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry and an Implant Fellowship. He is one of the very few graduates of this type of program worldwide. He has also developed an expertise in advanced dentistry and dental reconstruction which has been the focus of his continuing education efforts. A former faculty and Clinical Professor at Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Chowdhury continues to help serve as a mentor and teaches at Midwestern University Dental School as a clinical instructor. He is an esteemed Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology, an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry.
