On Friday, November 5, 2021, in conjunction with the Illinois State Dental Society at Maggiano’s Restaurant in Oak Brook, the Chicago component of the Academy of General Dentistry hosted a seminar given by Dr. Gordon Barkley. The lecture was comprehensive and covered the most current trends in endodontics. The lecture was designed for general dentists and educated practitioners on new developments, standards of care, methodology and many ways to make endodontics simpler and more successful. The topics covered included CBCT use, diagnosis, evidence-based methods with citations to academic papers and an awareness that contradictory studies are fairly common in this field, antibiotic usage recommendations, anesthetic techniques, anatomical approaches for canal discovery, cleansing medicaments, 1 step versus 2 step endodontics, obturation methods and the prevention of post-operative pain.
Dr. Barkley presented an amazingly sophisticated and comprehensive lecture that was informative and easy to follow. Questions were encouraged, and answered immediately with a great depth of knowledge.
