The Illinois Academy of General Dentistry (ILAGD) and the Academy of Dentistry International (ADI) held the 2019 D-4 Case Presentation Competition at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. The D-4 student presenters were Madison Allen, Nicholae Brown, Marybeth Francis, Mina Golubovich, Marin Lehman and David Markiewicz. ILAGD members Drs. Cheryl Mora, IL Regional Director, Theresa Lao, Scott Miller, John McNerney, Rosemary Villa and Michael Mora were judges for the event. Dr. Hofmeister, Assistant Clinical professor at UIC COD assisted the ILAGD with choosing the students for the competition. The student representatives for the ILAGD Student Chapter that also attended the event were Nicolae Brown, DMD-4-who was also a presenter, Cassie Mora, DMD-3, Kailyn Shultz, DMD-3, and Natashia Nagpal, DMDAS-3. Other students present were Stephen Patterson, D-4, Garima Sinha and Shavita Behl. The students presented a patient case and were judged on the quality of the presentation including the comprehensive exam, diagnosis, photography, models, treatment plan, outcomes, and their ability to answer questions. All the students had excellent presentations which made the judging very difficult. After the presentations, the students and volunteers had dinner at Pompeii on Taylor and the scholarship prizes were awarded. The third-place prize of $100 was given by ADI to Madison V. Allen. The second-place prize of $200 also awarded by ADI was awarded to Mina Golubovich. The first-place prize of $300 was given by the Chicago Academy of General Dentistry and was given to David A. Markiewicz. Congratulations to all the students on their excellent presentations and many thanks to the IL AGD volunteers who participated in the event.
