The ILAGD UIC Student’s Chapter hosted a fun Lunch & Learn featuring Dr. Russel Baer, team dentist for the Chicago Blackhawks. Dr. Baer discussed what it is like to be a sports team dentist and the types of injuries that can occur with professional hockey players. He explained the unique types of treatment that are needed for hockey players, such as break away implant abutments, because the players suffer so many injuries during their hockey careers. The 118 students who participated enjoyed lunch from Subway, and the D-1 students received their ILAGD logo scrubs. Many thanks to the ILAGD volunteers, student representatives, and UIC COD staff for their help with this program. The students received one hour of continuing education towards their AGD Fellowship Award. First through fourth-year dental students who are AGD members may earn up to a maximum of 50 hours of continuing education (CE) credit towards achieving the AGD Fellowship Award (FAGD) after graduation.
