SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE
&
THE CENTRAL ILLINOIS ACADEMY OF GENERAL DENTISTRY
Presents:
Friday, November 1st will be Virtual or In-person.
You may attend the live lecture at SIU School of Dental Medicine OR you may attend the course via Zoom.
Treatment planning complex removable cases (especially implant restorations) can be very overwhelming, especially when dealing with the partially edentulous patient or patient with terminal dentition. This course will review current removable options for restoration of the partially or fully edentulous patient, giving options to those with compromised or terminal dentition. Analog and digital workflows will be discussed, both implant and tooth borne. Saturday hands-on will include designing the different types of removable complete and partial dentures, how to do a pick up of an implant overdenture attachment and how to communicate with the dental laboratory.
Dr. Paul Edgerley is a prosthodontist who practices in Greater St. Louis, Missouri. He completed his prosthodontic training at The University of Tennessee in Memphis, TN. He also earned his MDS degree from UT. Prior to this he completed a general practice residency in hospital and community health dentistry at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL and his dental training at University of Missouri-Kansas City. A life
-long learner and educator, Dr. Edgerley is currently adjunct faculty at the OSF St. Francis General Practice Residency and Mercy Hospital General Practice Residency in St. Louis. He has publications on porcelain veneer fracture strength and material selection in multiple prosthodontic journals. His clinical interests are focused on full mouth restoration, removable and fixed implant dentistry, and treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders.
At the completion of this seminar, participants will:
1. Understand current removable treatment modalities for partially and fully edentulous patients
2. Become familiar with case examples of patients with terminal dentition and how treatment was sequenced
3. Understand how to clinically assess restorative space in patients both analog and digitally to aid in treatment planning
4. Understand common complications that are seen in removable patients and how to avoid or fix them
5. Understand the evaluation of laboratory processes for common removable prostheses
6. Understand the pros and cons of digital vs analog removable work flows
7. Understand how to perform a chair side pick up of a precision attachment for an implant or tooth bone overdenture
