On Friday, September 6th, 2024, at Gibson’s Bar & Steakhouse in Oak Brook, the Chicago component of the Illinois Academy of General Dentistry hosted a seminar that was given by Dr. Ziv Simon who is a double-boarded periodontist and implant specialist from Tel Aviv University and University of Toronto, practicing in Beverly Hills, CA. He also founded SurgicalMaster, an online continuing education academy and community of close to 100,000 dentists. Dr. Simon teaches this global community how to perform top-level surgery and has mentored thousands of dentists in his surgical courses.
Dr. Ziv Simon’s course provided comprehensive training in advanced dental implantology, focusing on several crucial aspects to enhance both procedural outcomes and esthetic results. Participants learned techniques for the least traumatic tooth extraction, aimed at minimizing damage to surrounding tissues and preserving bone integrity. The course also covered the selection and application of various bone grafts and membranes, providing insights into their optimal use for site augmentation and stabilization. Additionally, attendees gained skills in assessing implant sites through CBCT scans and planning surgeries to ensure successful outcomes. A key component of the training was the socket shield technique, which involves retaining a portion of the tooth root to maintain bone and soft tissue, ultimately improving esthetic and functional results. The course also emphasized strategies for achieving success in the esthetic zone to ensure optimal integration with adjacent teeth and desirable cosmetic outcomes, through case presentations and his reflections on areas of improvement in the future.
