On Friday, March 3, at Ditka’s Restaurant in Oak Brook Terrace, Illinois, the Chicago Component of the Academy of General Dentistry hosted a day-long course on “The End of Sensitivity, Discomfort, Open Contacts: New Marketing Concepts (The Peanut Butter & Jelly Method)” by Dr. Todd Snyder.  Dr. Snyder received his doctorate in dental surgery at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Dentistry.  He has trained at the F.A.C.E. institute for complex gnathological (functional) and temporomandibular joint discorders (TMD).  Dr. Snyder is an Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.  Dr. Snyder has been on the faculty at U.C.L.A. and is currently on the faculty at Esthetic Professionals.  He also founded and is CEO of Miles To Smiles, a non-profit children’s charity that helps indigent and underprivileged children.

Dr. Snyder gave an excellent presentation on using the proper techniques for preventing sensitivity.  Everything beginning with the use of modern diagnostic tools to doing the proper prep design, bonding agents and the use of restorative materials especially incorporating a glass ionomer, was covered in the morning session.  In the afternoon session, Dr. Snyder presented many useful tools for boosting your marketing on the internet as well as managing your practice by an online statistical analysis program.  Overall, it was a very informative seminar with lots of tools to take back to our practice and utilize.
