The Illinois Academy of General Dentistry hosted their 3rd annual barbeque dinner to welcome the new D-1 Class at Midwestern University of College of Dental Medicine-Illinois. After enjoying a hearty dinner, President of IL AGD Dr. Larry Williams discussed the importance of being involved in organized dentistry and the need for dentists to protect the profession by belonging to organized dental associations such as the AGD and ADA. Dr. George Zehak, President Elect of the Chicago Dental Society and Past President of the IL AGD spoke to the students about the importance of continuing education and their obligation as dentists to remain current in the profession. Dr. Cheryl Mora, Immediate Past President of the Illinois AGD discussed the membership benefits AGD has to offer the students and the importance of general dentists belonging to both the ADA and the AGD. Dr. Ben Youel, Chicago AGD Editor and recent graduate welcomed the students to the profession and offered to help them in dental school and in their transition from student to dentist. The IL AGD would like to thank Dean MacNeil and the MWU faculty that attended the dinner as well as the AGD volunteers who attended, Dr. William Lawley, Chicago AGD Vice-President; Dr. Theresa Lao, IL AGD Board Member (also faculty) and Dr. Ryan Fahdani (also faculty).
