SUMMARY:ILAGD Presents: The 30th Annual Ted Weclew Memorial Lecture: Case Planning & Occlusion for the Everyday Practice
DESCRIPTION:The 30th Annual Ted Weclew Memorial Lecture:\n Case Planning & Occlusion for the Everyday Practice\nIN PERSON OR ZOOM WEBINAR \nSpeaker: Michael Melkers\,DDS\,MAGD\nAn ILAGD Member Benefit Course / Wednesday\,  February 19\, 2025\nSummary:\nDate: Wednesday\, February 19\, 2025\nTime: 8am – 4pm\nLocation: AGD Building\, 560 W. Lake Street\, Chicago IL\nSpeaker: Dr. Michael Melkers\nCE Credits:  7 CE Lecture Credits \nCourse Description:\n\nTreatment planning & occlusion seem to get relegated & put on hold for those ‘special’ cases and perfect patients. In this program\, we will explore and discuss the application of communication\, treatment planning & occlusion in everyday dentistry and beyond. Dr. Melkers will take you on a guided tour of the application of these principles in a variety of cases from single tooth\, quadrant and full mouth\, to multidisciplinary care. Our goal is to help you implement these skills in your practice. \nObjectives: \n1-Learn to recognize critical parafunctional red flags and why they matter.\n2-Appreciate the balance between function\, parafunction & aesthetics.\n3-Understand purpose vs process treatment planning as it applies to outcome- based treatment planning.\n4-Learn realistic management of destructive forces in restorative dentistry.\n5-Case application from single tooth to full mouth rehabilitation. \n  \n\nSpeaker Biography:\n Michael Melkers\, the Founder of the Nuts & Bolts Occlusion programs has been a mentor for The Pankey Institute\, is currently serving as the Editor for American Equilibration Society and as an Ad hoc reviewer for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. In the past he has been Director of Occlusion & Aesthetic Dentistry at the Pacific Northwest AEGD Residency Program and Visiting Faculty at The Spear Institute. \nDr. Melkers loves helping and treating patients. It is as simple as that. While he feasibly could lecture and travel full-time\, it is neither his passion nor his goal. I do feel strongly that in order to teach with credibility and continue to grow professionally\, an active\, private clinical practice is essential. Beyond the care of his patients\, he feels that credibility as an instructor comes from not only in knowing how to perform clinical procedures but also how to successfully implement them in real-world practice. \nWhile his heart and home are in the woods outside of Hanover\, New Hampshire his travels in teaching have taken him around the globe\, to 5 of the 7 continents and over a dozen countries. He has presented at the American Dental Association\, the Academy of General Dentistry\, the AACD\, the American Equilibration Society\, the International Academy of Gnathology\, the British Dental Association\, the Australian Dental Association\, the Seattle Study Club as well as countless state & local dental societies\, organizations & study clubs. \nLocation & Time:\n8am – 4pm (12-1pm lunch break) \nAGD Building \n560 W. Lake Street \nChicago\, IL 60611 \nSeminar Fees:\nAGD/ADA Dues Paid Dentist   $125\nNon-AGD Dentist             $325\nHygienist\ Dental Staff                    $85\nDental Students                $35\n& Residents (Preregistration required) \nHotel:\nHampton Inn Chicago Downtown West Loop \nRegistration fee’s will increase after 2/1/25 \nFor questions contact: \nContact Maureen Kugel @ mkugel.ilagd@gmail.com \nAGD dues paid status will be checked as of January14\, 2025.
